Description

Steven Huffman is a Co-Founder and serves as Chief Executive Officer at Reddit. He is also the co-founder and former CEO of Hipmunk, the popular online travel company. Raised in northern Virginia, Huffman pursued his passion for programming from an early age and followed it through a computer science degree at the University of Virginia. In 2005, he and his college roommate Alexis Ohanian pitched their first start-up to then-new incubator Y Combinator. While the pair's initial idea for a food-ordering mobile app called My Mobile Menu was rejected, Y Combinator founder Paul Graham invited them to build a new startup, which soon led to their creation of Reddit. After selling the company in 2006, Huffman launched Hipmunk and was named to Inc. Magazine's "30 Under 30" list in 2011 and the Forbes "30 Under 30" list in 2012. A few years later, Huffman returned as CEO of Reddit, where he has led the company's development of native image and video hosting, a new mobile app, and a full site redesign while growing the Reddit community to over 330 million monthly users. In addition to his work at Reddit, Huffman is a mentor at Hackbright Academy, a San Francisco-based coding school for women. In his free time, he enjoys skiing, dancing, and browsing r/WholesomeMemes.

How to connect with Angel Investors in the Mobile Apps industry?

In the Mobile Apps industry, angel investors such as Chris Sacca, Jason Calacanis, and Naval Ravikant are highly active. These investors focus on startups offering innovative solutions in mobile applications, app development platforms, and mobile services. Chris Sacca, founder of Lowercase Capital, invests in mobile app startups that leverage technology to create engaging and scalable applications. Jason Calacanis, an early investor in Uber and Robinhood, looks for companies that provide unique and impactful mobile solutions. Naval Ravikant, co-founder of AngelList, seeks out startups with strong user engagement and scalable mobile app technologies. To connect with these investors, attend mobile tech conferences, app development expos, and networking events such as Mobile World Congress, TechCrunch Disrupt, and App Developers Conference. Utilize platforms like AngelList and LinkedIn to identify and reach out to potential investors. When pitching, emphasize how your mobile app solution addresses key challenges, such as improving user experience, enhancing functionality, or providing new services. Highlight any traction you’ve gained, such as user growth, positive feedback from users, or partnerships with tech companies. Building relationships through initial informal meetings or discussions at industry panels can help establish trust with these investors. Demonstrating the impact of your technology through case studies or user testimonials can also add credibility. Personalize your outreach by referencing the investor’s previous investments and explaining how your venture aligns with their interests. Demonstrating a sustainable business model with clear revenue streams, such as in-app purchases, subscription fees, or advertising, will further strengthen your pitch. Leveraging endorsements or case studies from mobile app experts can also enhance your credibility.
